The Darkmoon Faire in Elwynn Forest
It's that wonderful time again, when sunshine covers the forest of Elwynn and the Darkmoon Faire comes to town. It had been a while since my last visit to the Darkmoon Faire, and I had begun to take it for granted, so when I was given the job of reporting on it for the Journal I was quite excited. As soon as I entered through the gate, the excitement washed over me. The children running around, the smell of the famous (or rather infamous) Darkmoon Ale in the air, and the knowledge that everyone was having a good time. People come from all over Azeroth to visit the Faire, including Horde members from Kalimdor. Merchants hoping to snap up a rare bargain, the hopeful come to have their fortunes told, and others to dance and party. There's animals to see and pet, including some rather dangerous looking caged ones. I remember everything quite well from my previous visits, but was delighted to see a new game. You can control a small machine, I have heard them referred to as 'Tonks', and drive it round the Faire. The aim seems to be to shoot the other 'Tonks', and survive being shot yourself. I must also add that these Tonks are only small, no threat to anyone else. I can only assume they are of Gnomish origin. A very popular game amongst the locals, I myself couldn't keep away. As well as this, there were the old Faire favorites - a Gnoll who tells your fortune, a tame Ogre, a varied and well stocked bar, and a dancing area. My personal favorite has to be the cannon though. It's free to ride, and very handy if you're in a rush to get to Redridge, mind the wolves though. In the evening the Faire becomes a very different place. It becomes less about summer fun and more about summer drinking. At under a silver each, the Darkmoon Ale is the best and cheapest way to get a party going. The dancing begins and, in the case of the last Faire I went to, so does the skinny-dipping. Next month the Faire will travel to Mulgore, close to Thundebluff. I have been to this one before, and the locals are friendly as long as you don't start anything. There are rumors that this time, a special summer event will be hold within the faire, another great reason for not missing it! After this reminder of how good the Faire is, I shall be going to Mulgore and I hope to see some of you there for drinks and dancing, my treat.
