Subject: 'Azeroth Journal' hit by police links scandal!
Incredible allegations calling into question the journalistic independence of the Azeroth Journal rocked Stormwind today. Speaking anonymously, a high-placed whistleblower at the Journal made explosive claims raising yet more questions for the crisis-hit Chief of the Official Guild of Criminals', Minetha 'Easy' Nightingale.
In what the Guild of Journalists are calling 'unpecedented' it today emerged that gaff-prone, head-Criminal Minetha bullied and threatened editor Maud Doe demanding complete editorial control over the paper. Evidence emerged that the unstable Chief-Crook also demanded that a junior criminal - Tugnas Splattersplog, be given a fake job on the paper so the Guild of Criminals could monitor all journalistic output. Reports of the conversation confirmed that edior Maud Doe was physically threatened and told she would be arrested and the journal closed if she failed to comply.
Sources close to the Journal today expressed discomfort at the embarassing public links between the Guild of Criminals' 'People's Militia' and the Journal. Said one journalist 'We can't blame Maud - Minetha's unpredictable and violent - if her and her goons wanted to close us down we know they could - Maud just didn't have a choice, it was either have an officer check everything or be attacked! - what would you do?'
Suspicions of an unhealthily close relationship between the Guild of Criminals and the Journal have grown in recent weeks after Top-Thug Minetha demanded a featured interview which critics slammed as 'sicophantic and fawning rubbish'.
Tempers flared in Stormwind today with residents reacting angrily to the scandal. Taking the mood of the city in the old town one resident commented ' I can't believe it, it's just one thing after another with Minetha and her band of thugs - Stormwind would be better off without the lot of them!'. Other residents reacted with disbelief at the brazeness of the Guild of Criminals, said one, 'This is about freedom of speech, it's getting ridiculous here now, if you stand up to the militia they torture you, if you try to express what you think they try to shut you up or bully you'.
This latest outrage comes hard on the heels of a series of scandals that have thrown the militia into crisis. Head-Goon Minetha is now expected to face open calls for her resignation following the recent public anger over admissions of brutality and torture by the Guild of Criminals. Furthermore, following Head-Thug Minetha's angry refusal to stop wearing a ridiculous hat, this latest scandal is said to be feulling concerns mounting within the Guild over her mental health.
Asked for his comment on the issue, Brother Habeus of the Scarlet Mission once again appealed for calm and public order saying 'Anyone who lives in a free society like ours must be worried about these developments, but in the interests of public safety, given the Milia's record on torture, I urge citizens not to approach Minetha or her men at this time.'
