Feeding
your Body and Soul with Sagefish
I've spent much of my childhood fishing in The Loch, where sagefish is a common catch. It can be eaten raw, though I wouldn't recommend it; the best way to cook it is smoked, and reaches its best when enhanced with some mild spices - this also makes it last much longer, so it's a good choice for travellers. Sagefish is known not only for it's strong and at the same time delicate flavour, but also for being "food for the body and soul". Those who use magic in its several forms, and even the followers of the Light, will find that, after a nice meal including sagefish, they recover their powers faster than ever!
Sagefish can be
found in many places around the world, in both continents, but remember that
it can't survive in salty waters, so always look for it in rivers and lakes:
- Loch Modan
- Hillsbrad Foothills
- Stonetalon Mountains
- Ashenvale
- Silverpine Forest
A close relative to sagefish, the greater sagefish has even more to offer than the smaller one. Again, it can be eaten raw, though when smoked with some hot spices it becomes a delight that should be tried by everyone at least once. Its nutritious properties make it a recommended food for those who are pushing their minds and souls to their limits, for example students.
Greater Sagefish is a rare catch, and if you want to fish for it, I recommend to try the Misty Shore in Alterac Mountains, from Dalaran to Dandred's Fold, though it can also be found in the rivers and lakes of Stranglethorn Vale.
Take your fishing pole and bait, and enjoy one of the best delights of Azeroth!
